With all the hype around CC creams these days I wanted to give it a try as well. I wasn't sure which one to try out since they all have their pros and cons so I decided to try out the CC cream from Olay. I chose Olay because its a brand that I trust. I've used this product line for years with favorable and consistent results.
When I pumped the product out for the first time, I thought it was pretty cool how the product comes out swirled at first. There is a dark and light tone as depicted on the box and I'm not sure about this part but I think it might be suspended in a clear gel/liquid.
I tried several different techniques to apply this and of those, I found the best technique is to blend it with a sponge. I initially tried to apply it using my fingers and it was quite hard to blend. I ended up with several small patches so I had to work a little harder at blending those in with my fingers. The second time I used this product, I applied it with my fingers and blended it out halfway with my fingers then finished blending it with a sponge. I did this because I wanted to experiment with the application a little and because I don't like using sponges too often. I'm always worried about bacteria accumulating and taking the time to wash the sponge after every application is not something I look forward to. The application with this technique was a lot better than the initial. After this trial I decided to blend the product entirely with the sponge and it gave the best finish.
This might not be a fair comparison but this CC cream offers more coverage than other BB creams I've used in the past, it feels heavier as well. I don't know if it lightened any of my dark spots but I did notice a reduction in the redness of my cheeks after I removed the product.
Something that I did not really like about this product was that it made me look a little oily. I'm not sure if it was the SPF or that it didn't mix well on top of my moisturizer but I had to blot after I applied the CC cream to tone down the shine.
Overall, I think this product provides good coverage but I don't think I will purchase it again. I am someone who likes to spend as little time as possible getting ready in the morning and I think this product was a little hard to blend out. I did look shiny after applying it but it was nothing a blotting sheet could not fix.
